‘Save Constitution-Save Democracy’ March in Darbhanga

A ‘Save Democracy – Save Constitution’ march was taken out in Darbhanga on 26 June, starting from Polo Maidan, traversing through IG Office, Collectorate, and Laheriyaserai Tower and coming back to culminate in a meeting at the Polo Maidan. The march was led by CPI(ML) activists and raised slogans against the undeclared emergency, against the attacks on democracy and the Constitution, against the opportunistic Nitish government, against the attacks on educational institutions, and demanded answers from the Modi government on attacks on minorities and dalits and failure to address farmers’ concerns. Speakers at the meeting chaired by Laxmi Paswan (who was jailed during the 1975 Emergency) said that the country is now in an undeclared emergency where all democratic institutions, the Constitution, educational institutions, minorities, dalits, adivasis, farmers, workers and the poor are being attacked. They said that this attack on the country’s freedom can be fought only by all pro-people forces coming together.
