Sankalp Sabha in Memory of Com. Jagdev Sharma

The CPI (ML) Patan Committee held a Sankalp Sabha at SagunaPatan on 4 May on the occasion of the martyrdom anniversary of labour leader Com Jagdev Sharma.

Jagdev Sharma was known as a dedicated labour and kisan leader and had taken up the fight against feudal forces in Palamu. Feudal forces killed him in 2000. Speaking at the meeting CPI (ML) State Committee leader said that today once again feudal forces are gaining power in Palamu and they are illegally capturing the land of the poor. At such a time it is important to remember Com Jagdev Sharma and carry forward his work by strengthening the workers’ movement.

Today the government which talks of ‘development for all’ is oppressing workers. In 2 years they have increased MNREGA wages by Re 1! On the other hand, the CNT-SPT Act has been amended in order to give adivasis’ and farmers’ lands at throw-away prices to Adani and other capitalists. The people can see clearly whose of ‘development’ this government has in mind. The BJP wants to get votes by spreading hatred and divisiveness as the British did. The political discourse has become about cows, mandir and masjid, while real issues like employment, education and workers’ issues are not given any importance.
