Break Aadhaar chains protest in Puducherry

On 12th January a protest was organised at Puducherry by CPI(ML), CPI, CPI(M), Dravidar Kalagam (DK), Manithaneya Makkal Katchi (MMK), AIPF, Human rights and consumer protection council (HRCPS) and Meenavar Viduthalai Vengaikal to press the NDA Government for the withdrawal of much hated Aadhaar from linking to all services and schemes which has become a tool of exclusion and of surveillance and violation of privacy. The protesters also condemned and demanded withdrawal of criminal case filed against the journalist Rachana Khaira who recently exposed fragile, unsafe storage of Aadhaar details of citizens by UIDAI.
S. Balasubramanian, State Secretary of CPI(ML), Nara Kalainathan, National Council member CPI, R. Rajangam State Secretary CPI(M), A.Liaqat Ali, National Advisory member of AIPF and leaders of other organisations addressed the demonstrators. Hundreds of Party workers participated in the demonstration.
