Dominant feudal forces had razed 7 houses of 14 musahar families and made a private road for themselves in Agiaon Musahar Tola (Bhojpur). Protesting against this the CPI(ML) had blockaded the Ara-Arwal main road for 8 hours; the agitation was victorious and the musahars had put up their huts again but the CO had registered cases against CPI(ML) activists. To protest against this, hundreds of landless poor led by Tarari MLA Com. Sudama comrades Prasad, Raghuvar Paswan, Manoj Manzil, Upendra Bharti, Dasai Ram and others marched to the Agiaon zonal office and gheraoed the CO, raising slogans demanding withdrawal of the false cases, 5 decimal housing land and 1-acre agricultural land for all landless, arrest of culprits guilty of razing mahadalits’ homes, land parchas and possession for poor and mahadalits. Afraid of the people’s anger, the CO had already fled from the office.
After hours of gherao the Director of Survey and Land Records, directed by the DM, came to the spot for talks. The gherao was ended after getting written assurance on the following issues: land parchas would soon be given to the 14 families whose houses were razed; action would be taken to withdraw the false cases; departmental action would be taken on the CO; and action would be taken for arrest of the culprits.
Speaking on the occasion Com. Sudama Prasad demanded that the government should implement the recommendations of the Land Reform Commission without delay. He said that the Party MLAs would raise the Agiaon and Banauli incidents in the coming Assembly session. RYA President Com. Manoj Manzil said that the Nitish government had promised the dalits of the State that they would be given land for housing and farming. But today feudal forces are dispossessing the poor and the government is protecting them and slapping false cases on ML activists who fight for the rights of the landless poor. The speakers said that the Party would sharpen the agitation if the government did not give land parchas to people of the musahar tolas in Agiaon, Kharicha, Pavana and all other places in the district.
