Anti-Note Ban Campaign in Different States

BIHAR

Insaf Manch, Jan Sanskriti Manch, and AISA jointly organized a seminar in Muzaffarpur on the topic “Note Ban: A Surgical Strike on the People”. The seminar was addressed by noted professors, intellectuals, activists, social thinkers, lawyers, film-makers and others. The speakers pointed out the distress to the poor and the benefits to the rich in the wake of demonetization. They said that the country is going through a period of grave crisis. The Modi government is treading a fascist path for which the people will never forgive them. Earlier, the seminar paid tribute to legendary actor late Om Puri.

TAMIL NADU

Many programmes to highlight the ill effects of the note ban were organized at various places in Tamil Nadu—street plays, rallies, pamphlet distribution, protest meetings, dharnas, and road blocks. In Chennai, factory workers, students, youth and women activists took out rallies in residential areas of Ambattur which culminated in meetings at central points. The meetings brought out the truth behind the demonetization exercise and were supported by the common people.

Small meetings were held in hutments of unorganized sector workers and migrant workers, addressed by CPI(ML) State Secretary S Kumarasamy and others. Campaigns to expose the truth about the note ban were also held at 11 panchayats in Tiruvellore and Coimbatore.
