The CPI(ML) organised a protest march in Bandhuganj market on August 23 against the assault on four Dalit women at Pariyawan village under Ghosi police station in Jehanabad district. A large number of party workers and local residents took part in the march.
The protesters demanded the immediate arrest of all those involved in the attack, security for the victims and proper medical treatment. They raised slogans demanding the arrest of the criminals and powerful elements who attacked the Dalit women after entering their house and called for guaranteed protection and treatment for the victims. Political slogans were also raised against Chirag Paswan and Jitan Ram Manjhi.
Addressing the gathering, CPI(ML) state committee member Ravindra Yadav said the incident at Pariyawan was extremely serious. The fact that powerful elements could enter a house and assault women showed that criminals no longer feared the law. He demanded the immediate arrest of all accused in the case.
Ravindra Yadav said attacks on Dalits, poor people and women were increasing under the BJP government, while the government and administration were remaining mute spectators instead of taking effective action against criminals.
Speakers also recalled the recent incident at Chaiti Pipar, where land mafias and powerful elements targeted poor people and women. The Pariyawan incident is part of the same growing pattern of domination and criminality, they said. CPI(ML) made it clear that attacks on poor people, Dalits and women would not be tolerated.
CPI(ML) demanded that the district administration immediately arrest all those involved in the Pariyawan incident, ensure security for the victim women and provide them proper medical treatment. It also demanded a fair investigation and stringent action against those responsible.
