Comrade Latafat Hussain, a veteran leader of the CPI(ML) and a close comrade-in-arms of Comrades Master Jagdish and Ram Naresh Ram in Bhojpur, passed away early this morning (Aug 3) at his residence in Ara. He was 79 years old.
Comrade Latafat Hussain was one of the principal organisers of the historic rally held in Ara (Bhojpur) on 14 April 1970 under the leadership of Comrade Master Jagdish, demanding Harijanistan. The rally laid the foundation for the formation of the CPI(ML) in Bhojpur. He was also a leader of the 1974 movement against Indira Gandhi's authoritarian rule and was the CPI(ML) candidate from Ara in the 2000 Bihar Assembly elections.
The struggling poor of Bhojpur have lost a steadfast friend and comrade. The CPI(ML) stands with his bereaved family in this moment of grief and pays its heartfelt tributes to the departed leader.
