Hundreds of students and youth, along with All India Students’ Association (AISA) activists, marched in Ranchi on August 2 from Jaipal Singh Munda Park to Albert Ekka Chowk against paper leaks and irregularities in JPSC, JSSC and other recruitment examinations, demanding accountability from the Hemant Soren government. The protest was part of statewide demonstrations organised against the continuing crisis of examination corruption and recruitment irregularities. Similar protest programmes were held in Dhanbad, Giridih, Ramgarh, Palamu and other parts of Jharkhand, where students and youth raised their demand for transparency and justice in the recruitment process.
Students announced that a massive Assembly March will be held on August 7, in which AISA national president Neha, who was a prominent face of the hunger strike at Jantar Mantar, will also participate.
Thousands of students and youth across Jharkhand have been sitting on an indefinite protest since July 29, demanding the cancellation of the 14th JPSC examination, identification and strict action against those involved in paper leaks and irregularities in JPSC and JSSC-CGL examinations, and the immediate release of a recruitment calendar for regular and transparent appointments.
Students demanded that the Hemant Soren government take responsibility for repeated examination irregularities and engage with representatives of the student movement to resolve their grievances. They pointed out that paper leaks and recruitment scams have repeatedly disrupted the lives and futures of lakhs of aspirants preparing for government jobs.
AISA stated that the increasing dependence on private agencies for conducting examinations has created a system lacking transparency and accountability. The organisation demanded that the government take responsibility for conducting recruitment examinations to ensure fairness and protect the interests of candidates.
The ongoing movement has brought together students preparing for various competitive examinations, including JPSC, JSSC, JTET, assistant teacher recruitment, secondary teacher recruitment, police recruitment and other government examinations. AISA has extended support to the struggles of these aspirants and demanded immediate steps from the government to address their concerns.
