30TH Martyrdom of Ghutuva Firing

The CPI (ML) observed the 30th martyrdom day in memory of the three comrades who were martyred on 30 October 1988 in Ghutuva (Patratu Block, Ramgarh District, Jharkhand). State Committee member Com. Devki Nandan Bhediya and other leaders paid floral tribute and observed one minute’s silence in memory of the martyrs and also of student Simran Kumari killed in Bujurg Jameera village, the two workers killed in the Sayal mine accident, and the victims of starvation deaths.

Addressing the meeting State and District leaders said that 29 years ago on this day thousands of people had gheraoed Ghutuva thana to protest against police atrocities and repression of women. The police opened fire on the protesters killing three and injuring dozens. Mankunwar Bediya and several others were thrown into jail. It was the Congress government in those days. Today it is the BJP government which is attacking the poor from all sides. The BJP is bent on destroying constitutional democracy in the country.
