AIPWA, AISA, AND RYA organized a joint dharna at the Muzaffarpur Collectorate on 22 May 2018 to protest against the growing incidents of sexual violence, rape and murder of women and children and the increasing rate of crime and loot. Through the dharna a memorandum was submitted to the Collector. Large numbers of students, youth and women were present at the dharna along with leaders from AIPWA, AISA and RYA.
Addressing the dharna, AIPWA leaders said that incidents of sexual violence, rape and murder on women and girl children have increased in Muzaffarpur as well as across the entire country under the Modi-BJP rule at the Centre and the Nitish-BJP rule in Bihar. Instead of acting against the culprits the governments are protecting the rapists and murderers and BJP leaders are even holding rallies in their defence. AISA leaders pointed out the harassment of students in the name of curbing cheating; students and even girl students are being subjected to partial stripping which is illegal and a violation of human rights. RYA leaders said that the incidents of crime and loot have increased enormously in Bihar and the common people’s lives have become very difficult, but the Nitish government remains silent and takes no action.
