Protests have been held all over the country against the Thoothukudi firing. On May 22 itself, Pricol workers at Coimbatore protested the firing. Since then, the CPI(ML), AICCTU and RYA organized protests all over Tamil Nadu. In Bengaluru, the CPI(ML), AICCTU, Environment Support Group, People’s Union for Civil Liberties, Greenpeace, Sthree Jagruthi Samiti, Social Democratic Party of India, New Socialist Alternative, Tamizh Makkal Aikyam, Alternative Law Forum, Karnataka Janashakti and several environmental activists and lawyers protested at the Vedanta office on MG Road on 25 May.
On 24 May, AISA and JNU Students’ Union joined the Delhi Support Group, NAPM and many other organizations at the Tamil Nadu House to protest against the Thoothukudi firing.
