A consultative meeting of AIKM was held at Trichy, where it was proposed to hold the first state conference of AIKM in TN in the second half of 2018.

Comrade Rajaram, GS of AIKM attended the meeting and spoke of the peasant resistance all over the country. Comrade A Simpson, NEC member and state organiser of AIKM in TN shared the experience of successful land struggles in TN. Comrade Chandramohan narrated the situation of peasantry and their movement in the state. Comrade Balasundaram, CCM of CPI(ML) called to observe the 50th anniversary of the Keezhvenmani massacre by advancing the struggles of rural labourers and peasants. Venmani was not just a massacre, it was a political assault to pull down and smash the assertion of the class of agricultural labourers and poor peasants from oppressed castes, he said. He called to pay tribute to the Venmani martyrs by building unity of rural labourers against feudal and communal fascist forces.

The meeting chose a 7-member organising team of AIKM with Comrade Simpson as its convenor. Comrade Desigan translated Comrade Rajaram’s speech in Tamil.
