Delhi AICCTU holds State Conference

AICCTU Delhi unit organized its 7th state conference on 5 August 2017 in Girinagar labour auditorium in Delhi which had been renamed Com. Swapan Mukherjee Hall for the conference. Workers from across Delhi and its neighbouring areas participated in the conference. Workers from DTC, MTNL, JNU, ASHA workers, construction workers, domestic workers, rail and roadway workers along with several others registered their participation in the conference. Workers from industrial areas of Delhi including Wazirpur and Okhla were also present. The banners and posters put up in the conference venue carried the slogans- “Strengthen the unity of workers against communal frenzy”; “Intensify the struggle against- capitalism, privatization and contractualisation”; “The attempts to end the labour laws under the pretext of amendments will not be tolerated”; and “ensure minimum wages for all workers in Delhi”.

CPI (ML) General Secretary Com. Dipankar Bhattacharya congratulated the workers present for the conference and addressed them. He pointed out that this conference was being organized at a time when the rights of workers were being increasingly attacked and violated across the country. He also emphasized on the need to strengthen the workers’ struggles in current times.

Cultural activists from Jan Sanskriti Manch and Sangwari also participated in the conference and presented revolutionary songs.

Com. Abhishek Kumar was elected as the general secretary of AICCTU Delhi unit and Com. Santosh Rai was elected as the president. Com. V.K.S. Gautam was elected as the working President.
