The All India Construction Workers Federation (AICWF)

The All India Construction Workers Federation (AICWF) held its National Executive Committee meeting at Charu Bhawan, Shakarpur, Delhi on 30 March 2017. Addressing the meeting, AICCTU National General Secretary Rajiv Dimri said that since the coming of Modi and Yogi there has been a sharp rise in assaults by Sanghi forces. In order to fight these attacks, construction workers must increase their organizational strength and escalate their protests and struggles. He further said that we must accept this challenge and prepare ourselves to fight with all our might.

It was resolved at the meeting to strengthen the organizational framework on all fronts by conducting an extensive membership drive among construction workers. Countrywide district level protests would be held on 29 June 2017 for rights of construction workers, ESI, Provident Fund, Health Insurance, BPL, Housing, better wages for better living, equal laws and benefits for construction workers across the country, against the gross misuse of the Construction Workers Welfare Fund, discrimination against migrant workers, gender discrimination against women workers and the increasing attacks on workers’ rights. A mass protest by construction workers on these demands would also be held in front of Parliament in Delhi in November 2017. It was resolved that a campaign on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of ‘Naxalbari Day’ would be conducted among construction workers and forthcoming ‘Siliguri Chalo’ rally to be held on 25 May 2017 by CPI(ML), preparations would be undertaken for participation in the programme.

Resolutions were also passed to stand in solidarity with the Maruti workers and the Tamil Nadu farmers’ struggle at Jantar Mantar.
