On March 21, MLAs from CPI(ML) Comrades Mehboob Alam, Sudama Prasad and Satyadeo Ram raised the question of Bagmati Dam. As soon as the zero hour began, the MLAs demanded a statement from the government on this extremely important issue. They informed that despite assurance of the Muzaffarpur district administration, the work on the dam has forcefully begun and the government must answer as to how it is allowed. As a result of the persistence of the CPI(ML) MLAs the minister for parliamentary affairs, Shravan Kumar Chaudhary had to intervene and get a letter issued from department of water resources requesting necessary action. The CPI(ML) MLA’s said that the Maha-gathbandhan government and the BJP both had entered into a match fixing with each other to ensure that questions of people are not raised in the state assembly. The Minister’s intervention could happen only after the three MLA’s sat on a dharna inside the well of the House. They raised slogans demanding an immediate stop to the construction on Bagmati Dam, constitution of a committee to review the project and withdrawal of false cases against those who participated in the movement against the construction on the dam.
