AICCTU organized a protest at the Main Gate of the Bhilai Steel Plant on the issue of annual bonus, demanding Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 as bonus for regular and contract workers respectively. AICCTU and Ispat Shramik Manch participated in the meeting which was addressed by SL Sahu, Ashok Miri, Brijendra Tiwari, Muktanand Sahu and others.
On 23 September AICCTU organized a protest meet at the Boriya Gate of the Bhilai Steel Plant and submitted a memorandum to the CEO via AGM (Industrial Relations) demanding compensation to the family of contract worker Mahesh Sahu who was killed in an accident in the Blast Furnace inside the Steel Plant, as well as a permanent job for one family member. They also demanded that safety regulations and labour laws should be strictly followed and action should be taken on those guilty of negligence in safety.
