Protest in Bihar On Rohingya Issue

The CPI (ML) and Insaf Manch organized a candle march and protest meeting in Bhagalpur on 18 September 2017 as part of statewide protests against the continuing racial massacre of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar despite international condemnation, burning and destruction of their homes, and cruel torture of women and children. The march was led by CPI (ML) State Committee member Com. SK Sharma, city in-charge Com. Mukesh Mukt, and Insaf Manch District Convener Com. Syed Bashar Ali. Speaking on the occasion, CPI (ML) and Insaf Manch leaders said that it is a matter of great shame when the massacre of Rohingyas in Myanmar is drawing worldwide condemnation the government of India, enveloped in a communal mindset, has refused to give them refuge saying that they are a danger to the country. The Nitish government in the State has not only maintained silence on this issue, it has also banned the programme to express solidarity with the Rohingyas which was scheduled in Patna. This measure of the Nitish government is anti-democratic and highly condemnable. Nitish Kumar is now moving forward afresh in the State with the Sanghi agenda. His government is trying to engender political fear in the State at the instigation of the government at the Centre. The CPI (ML) will sharpen the struggle against this. The Party and the Insaf Manch demanded that there should be an immediate end to the racial killing of Rohingya Muslims, humanitarian aid should be extended to the Rohingyas, and the Modi government should stop looking at the issue from a communal perspective and instead give the Rohingyas refuge on a humanitarian basis.
