On receiving a report that a woman was sexually harassed while she had gone to farms for work and that no action had been even when the matter came to light, a meeting of women was organised under the leadership of AIPWA leader Com. Kiran Kumari on 10 October in Birni. A team visited the woman to meet her and find out what had happened. Com. Poonam Mahto was also a part of the team. After talking to the woman, the team came to know that she had gone to apply fertilizers in the farm when the accused were lying in wait in the farms. They tried to pull her from behind and rape her. The woman fought them and managed to escape. A case was filed in the Birni thana but even one month after the incident, the accused are roaming free. The team led by Comrades Kiran and Poonam found out that the police was providing protection to the accused. They have warned the administration that the accused be arrested immediately, failing which the women will gherao the thana.
