Protest in Kalinga Nagar on 9 March 2006 against brutal police firing and killings of anti land acquisition protesters.

A massive protest was organised by CPI (ML)’s  Odisha State Committee in solidarity with the struggling people of Kalinganagar and other party of Odisha against corporate land grab, forcible evictions and state repression.

This ‘Mahasamabesh ‘ of tribals, fisherfolk, poor peasants and dalit  agricultural labourers at Bhubaneswar in front of the state assembly was a militant voice of resistance against evictions. It also demanded distribution of ceiling-surplus land and benami lands of the landlords among the landless and poor peasants, reduction of land ceiling through progressive land reform legislation in a short period of time. thousands of Chilka fishermen joined the Maharally, demanding withdrawal of the anti-fisherfolk Chilka Bill and driving out of the prawn mafia from Chilka. The Mahasamabesh concluded with a clarion call for a united and coordinated, powerful and joint movement against all these anti-people and pro-imperialist policies of the governments.
