The 1st death anniversary of Com Janardan Harjan was observed on 9 October 2017 at his village Modidih in Baliyapur Block, Dhanbad District. A Sankalp Sabha was held in his memory which began with garlanding of his portrait and observing on one minute’s silence. Addressing the meeting, Com Vinod Singh said that Com Janardan Harijan was a Communist warrior fully dedicated to the people and to the CPI(ML). He was the epitome of a simple life, hard struggle, and constant political contact with the people. His self-respect was the synonym of dalit self-respect. It was his dream to secure due political claim for the dalits and the poor through his struggles. Com Vinod Singh further said that in the present scenario of feudalism and fascism, when Brahminism is also at its peak, the loss of Com Janardan (JD) who led people’s struggles is an irreparable loss for the Party and the people.
Com Janardan was a good singer and had composed many songs on the life of the rural poor. A project to release an album of his songs is nearly complete. The meeting concluded with the resolve to erect a life-size statue of Com Janardan and to work for the success of the 10th Party Congress by working with the workers and rural poor in Dhanbad District.
