The Uttarakhand ASHA Workers Union affiliated to AICCTU organized a District Conference at Udham Singh Nagar. The conference was attended by ASHA workers in large numbers and a 25-member District Committee was elected.
Com. Mamta Panu was elected as the District President and Com. Kulvinder Kaur was elected as General Secretary. The other elected members included 3 Vice Presidents, 3 Deputy Secretaries, a Treasurer, and an Organization Secretary. The Conference was addressed by AICCTU State President Com. Nishan Singh, State General Secretary, Com. KK Bora, Udham Singh Nagar District Secretary Com. Dinesh Tiwari, and ASHA leaders. The speakers said that ASHA workers are the backbone of rural health services but they are not being given the dignity and economic benefits due to them.
