On 12 December, people from Sampathar, Killinggok Sowalilukuwa villages of Amchang forest held a dharna at Chandrapur SDC office against inhuman eviction drive of the Assam government. The protest programme was led by the Sadou Asom Gramin Shramik Santha and CPI(ML). Com. Pankaj Kumar Das of CPI (ML), and Comrades Manteswar Rohang, S Sarma, Pilat Marak, and Tit Sangma of Sadou Asom Grami Shramik Santha led the protest on the demands of declaration of forest village, implementation of the forest land right act 2006, rehabilitation of evicted families and granting proper compensation. A memorandum was sent to the Chief Minister and the Forest Minister of Assam through SDC Chandrapur. A protest meeting also held in the campus of SDC office.
