A rally was taken out on 24 April in Ramgarh by the Ramgarh-Hazaribagh district unit attended by hundreds of workers, farmers, students and youth. The rally commenced from Mines Rescue Bhavan and proceeded through about 4 km to culminate in a meeting at the TOP Maidan. Slogans were raised all along the route on the issues of the anti-people policies of the Raghuvar government, forcible land grab, arrest of the guilty in the Gola-Badkagaon police firings, roll back of amendments to the CNT-SPT Act, anti-Jharkhand domicile policy, rehabilitation and employment for those displaced by the Bhairavi reservoir and other projects, minimum wages, equal pay for equal work, anti-people privatization, and handing over of Jharkhand’s resources to corporate houses.
Addressing the meeting Com Rajaram Singh and other speakers condemned the lynching of Pehlu Khan in the name of cow protection and demanded strict action against the criminals. They pointed out the Raghuvar government’s conspiracy to hand over Jharkhand’s resources, land, water and forests to corporate houses depriving the adivasis and indigenous people of their rights and said that the people would not allow this conspiracy to succeed.
The speakers said that the privatization of education has resulted in education becoming out of reach of the poor. Demonetization did not end black money but has snatched away the livelihoods of lakhs of workers. To divert attention from these failures the Sanghi forces are spreading communal and caste hatred. Modi wants to make a ‘Hindu Rashtra’ in the name of a ‘New India’. The country’s planning will now be in the hands of Ambani, Adani, Tata and their ilk.
The speakers said that the Jharkhand of Com. Mahendra Singh’s and other martyrs’ dreams has not yet been fulfilled. It is a long struggle and we must carry it forward. A 12-point political resolution was also passed through the meeting.
