Municipal contract workers of Mangalageri in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh held a dharna at the Municipality office on 11 July, demanding that the State government scrap GO 279, promulgated by the Department of Municipal Administration, and provide salaries for the employees under GO 151. The GO 279 is aimed at displacing workers. The workers warned of a two-day strike if the demand was not met.
