First Anniversary of Araria Martyrs Observed in Bihar

Last year, on 1 January 2017, Araria District Secretary Com. Satyanarayan Yadav and Com. Kamleshwari Rishidev were martyred while fighting unrelentingly for the poor. The first anniversary of their martyrdom was observed on 1 January 2018 at Rahariya. Criminals-landlords tried their utmost to prevent the success of the meeting. They threatened the Rahariya Musahar Toli with massacre this year also. Despite the threat the poor gathered in large numbers for the meeting and rent the skies with slogans asserting that the struggle for housing, land, and dignity of dalits and the poor would continue unbroken despite all obstacles.

CPI (ML) Central Committee member, AIARLA National President and former MP Com Rameshwar Prasad said that Com Satyanarayan Yadav and Com Kamleshwari Rishidev were brutally killed; but one year after the murders the three main accused—Raman Yadav, Manish Yadav and Baua Yadav—have not even been arrested. These three are siblings and also relatives of RJD MLA Anil Yadav who belongs to Narpatganj. Far from being arrested, these killer criminals are so fearless that they are openly pressurizing the victim families to take back their case and are constantly threatening them. But we shall not be intimidated by threats and shall continue the fight for justice.

Addressing the meeting District Secretary Com Nawal Kishore said that after the incident, the Arariya administration had given an assurance that the criminals would be arrested and then tried through speedy trial and punished. But that assurance has proved a total lie. The real culprits have not yet been arrested. Com Nawal Kishore called for making 2018 the year of struggle for justice for the victims of Rahariya, Martyr Kamleshwari Rishidev’s wife Rekha Devi, son Ajay Rishidev, martyr Satyanarayan Yadav’s son Mukesh Kumar, Com Ramvilas Yadav, Com Noorullah, Com Saryug Rishidev, Raju Rishidev, Anita Sharma, Runa Paswan, and Baiju Mandal paid tribute to the martyrs by offering flowers and pledging to carry forward the fight for justice for the martyrs.
