AIARLA Protest in Muzaffarpur
Rural and Mid-day meal workers held a protest in Kurhni block of Muzaffarpur for land, employment and construction of toilets on 14 September. A ten-point charter was handed over to the officials. The demands of 5 decimal land for homestead to dalits, titles for land already under possession as well as possession on land allotted to poor, to stop atrocities in the name of Swachh Bharat and prohibition, to regularise mid-day meal workers and increase in their wages, and social security to all, were raised. The protest was led by Ramsakal Das, Shatrughan Sahni and Kusumi Devi.
Protest against Murder of Journalist Shantanu Bhowmik
CPI(ML) held a protest marches condemning the murder of young journalist Santanu Bhowmik in Udaipur and Agartala in Tripura on 23-24 September.
AICRNF Conference in Odisha
AICRNF organised its state conference on 22 September where workers from Railway, steel, sanitation and housekeeping staffs participated. N.K Mohanty, AICCTU Odisha President inaugurated the conference, which was also addressed by Radhakant Sethi, Yudhisthir Mahapatra and Mahendra Parida. The conference passed a 9-point charter and raised the demand to pay Rs. 21,000 pm as minimum wage. It was resolved to intensify the movement against central government’s attempts to impose an anti-labour Labour Code bill in place of existing labour laws.
