CPI(ML) Delegation Meets Bihar CM

A CPI(ML) delegation comprising of Comrades Meena Tiwari, Mahboob Alam, Sudama Prasad and Satyadev Ram met the Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on 30 March 2017 with the demands of (1) CID enquiry into the cases against Darauli MLA Satyadev Ram and RYA National President Amarjeet Kushwaha. (2) To bring the Dika Kumari rape-murder case under Section 306 and POCSO Act, and arrest the chief accused and file a charge sheet against him.  (3) To make concrete arrangements for the safety of students in Ambedkar-Kasturba hostels. The delegation also met the DGP and asked for prompt action in these matters in the light of their talks with the CM.

CPI(ML) leader and Darauli MLA Satyadev Ram and RYA National President Amarjeet Kushwaha have been in jail since 17 March 2016 on false charges. A citizen’s delegation had met with the Chief Minister of Bihar with lakhs of applications for a CID enquiry into this matter nearly a year ago. Since then this matter has constantly been taken up with the Home Secretary and DGP in Bihar government. However, no progress has been made.

It is going to be 3 months since the rape and murder of 10th class mahadalit student Dika Kumari in Vaishali. From the start people have been demanding Section 306 and POCSO to be imposed in this case. However, neither has a charge sheet been filed, nor have the accused including the chief accused Principal been arrested. From our enquiries it appears that the teacher Mithilesh Kumar has a central role in this entire matter. After the Dika Kumari incident, many such incidents have occurred proving that students are unsafe in Ambedkar-Kasturba residential schools in Bihar. Dalit and poor women have always been prey to attacks in society; it is a matter of great concern that now they are unsafe even inside campuses.
