The 14th anniversary of the Markachho firing was observed on 22 January 2018 at the Shaheed Maidan in Markachho. The memorial began with flag-hoisting and floral tribute at the martyrs’ altar by the father of martyred Com Ashok. Addressing the memorial meeting Ramdhan Yadav said that poor men and women unable to avail themselves of rations are starving to death in rural Jharkhand; Jharkhand’s farmers are getting neither loan waivers nor the promised 1 ½ times purchase price for their crops. In these dismal conditions the tall claims of ‘development’ and alluring announcements by the Raghuvar government are a cruel joke on the people and herald the agenda of Jharkhand’s destruction. CPIML District Secretary Com. Mohan Dutta said that extensive initiatives are required on people’s issues so that the agenda to divide the people and spread hatred and violence can be nullified. This is the only way to defeat the fascist agenda and carry forward anti-fascist people’s unity and people’s struggles. By doing this we can also bring about pressure on the agenda of people’s issues inside the Assembly. A large number of activists were present at the memorial meeting.
