The Akhil Bharatiya Kisan Mahasabha held a district conference at village Bandhipurwa-Bagicha in Kandha Panchayat, Kalyanpur Block, Kanpur City. The conference venue has been a dharna site for the past two months. An indefinite dharna is being held under the Kisan Mahasabha banner against the forcible land acquisition of farmers’ lands by the Gas Authority of India (GAIL). A Kisan Mahasabha membership drive was also held along with the dharna and the conference was also held at the dharna site. A cultural team has been formed during this struggle which presented revolutionary songs during the conference. The main speaker was Kisan Mahasabha State President Jai Prakash Narayan. Com Vijay Kumar, Hari Singh, Vidya Rajwar, SA Zaidi and others also spoke at the conference. The speakers highlighted the anti-farmer policies of the Modi government and stressed the need for organizational strength and extension.
At the conclusion of the conference a 31-member Council and 15-member Executive were formed with Com. Sohan Singh and Com. Ajay Singh as President and Secretary respectively.
