Students and youth under the leadership of RYA took out a spirited march from Sariya Stadium to the residence of Koderma BJP MP and former State President Ravindra Rai to demand the construction of a rail over-bridge at the Hazaribagh Road railway crossing, and against the non-performance and ‘jumlebaji’ of the MP. More than 4,000 students and youth participated in the march despite the busy season for farming activities.
BJP district level leaders tried to stop the march through press statements, but this backfired and only served to increase the participation of youth in the march. The administration also put up barricades at several places to foil the march, but to no avail.
Thousands of youth raising slogans crossed the railway crossing and reached the barricades near the MP’s house. RYA national counselor Sandeep Jaiswal read out on the mike the memorandum with their demands after which the memorandum was submitted to the administrative authorities. The speakers at the meeting pointed out that the construction of the over-bridge had been granted in 2014 after untiring efforts by the former Bagodar MLA Com. Vinod Singh of the CPI (ML). The oil inspection had also been done for the construction. But no progress in the matter has been done in the last 3 years, showing the dismal non-performance of the present MP and the governments at the Centre and in the State. Lack of the over-bridge poses great difficulties and inconvenience to the people, especially school children. RYA activists will send 1,000 post cards to the MP and will continue the struggle till the over-bridge is constructed.
