A protest was organized on 20 September 2017 at Ambedkar Chowk, Bhilai against banning of the Kisan Sankalp Yatra which was to have started from Rajnandgaon on 19 September, the arrest of farmers, and the imposition of Section 144. This Yatra going through all major parts of the country is demanding loan waivers, implementation of the Swaminathan Commission recommendations, and 4 years’ bonus. The Yatra was to have culminated on 21 September at Raipur but on that day the protests were disallowed in Raipur also. The protest meeting was addressed by Com. Brijendra Tiwari of the CPI(ML) and leaders from CPI and SUCCI (C).
