CPIML Liberation expresses its deep shock and grief at the unprecedented human tragedy in Karur, Tamil Nadu, on September 27, where around 40 people, including women and children, lost their lives and several others were injured in a massive stampede during the campaign meeting of Thamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), led by Vijay.The CPIML Liberation holds the TVK Party and the Tamil Nadu Police accountable for their failure to ensure proper safety arrangements and maintain law and order, which directly resulted in this devastating loss of lives and injuries. We demand that the Tamil Nadu Government provide Rs. 50 lakhs in compensation to the families of each deceased person and Rs. 5 lakhs to each of the injured without delay.The government must also take all necessary steps to fix accountability and implement effective preventive measures so that such tragedies are never repeated.– Central Committee, Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation (September 28, 2025)
