AIPWA Condemns Bihar CM’s Public Humiliation of a Muslim Woman, Calls It an Attack on Women’s Dignity

AIPWA strongly condemns the act of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who, during the distribution of appointment letters to AYUSH doctors, pulled the hijab of a Muslim woman on a public platform. This act is a direct assault on the dignity of women. It constitutes not only physical and mental humiliation of the woman concerned, but also an attack on her religious identity and personal freedom.

The Indian Constitution guarantees every citizen the freedom to practise their religion, traditions and beliefs without discrimination on the basis of religion. What women choose to wear is their personal choice and a constitutionally protected right.

Before elections, tall claims are made about women’s empowerment, but after elections, women’s identities and rights are openly violated.
This incident exposes the real face of the NDA government dominated by the BJP and RSS. The Chief Minister’s conduct amounts to an attack on women’s dignity, identity and constitutional rights.

AIPWA strongly denounces this behaviour and expects the Chief Minister to publicly apologise for his actions.
