The CPI(ML) has strongly condemned the attack on Comrade Bhuvneshwar Kewat, a member of the CPI(ML) Jharkhand State Standing Committee and a leading figure of the labour movement, carried out on 6 December by BJP-backed communal elements. The State Secretary said that this attack is a direct assault on the labour movement, democratic rights, and Jharkhand’s legacy of communal harmony.
Comrade Kewat was targeted while peacefully opposing attempts by Sangh-affiliated forces to create tension at Phusro Bank Mor. Following the incident, hundreds of villagers and workers took to the streets, insisting on the immediate arrest of the culprits. The crowd dispersed only after the police gave a written assurance that action would be taken within 24 hours.
The CPI(ML) has demanded immediate, strict, and impartial action against the offenders and the exposure of the entire conspiracy. The party has warned that if action is not taken, a large-scale movement will be launched.
