CPIML Condemns Bihar Govt’s Failure to Honour Martyred BSF Sub-Inspector Imtiyaz

Martyred BSF Sub-Inspector Imtiyaz

CPI(ML) has strongly condemned the Bihar government for failing to accord due respect to BSF Sub-Inspector Mohammad Imtiyaz, who was martyred while performing his duties along the India–Pakistan border in Kashmir.

State Secretary of CPI(ML), Comrade Kunal, said that the Bihar government demonstrated a shameful and apathetic attitude towards the martyrdom of Sub-Inspector Imtiyaz. When his mortal remains arrived at the Patna airport on Saturday, not a single top representative of the state government was present—not the Chief Minister, not either of the Deputy Chief Ministers, nor any senior administrative official. Only a handful of ministers bothered to show up.

In an especially distressing scene, the martyr’s body was transported in a police truck, and his personal belongings had to be carried by his own son. “This is not merely administrative negligence; it is an insult to a soldier who laid down his life in the line of duty,” said Comrade Kunal.

CPI(ML) further pointed out that the party was not informed about the arrival of the Sub-Inspector Imtiyaz’s body, a protocol lapse that prevented its representatives from paying homage at the airport. “All political parties should have been informed. This silence was deliberate,” the statement noted.

On May 13, CPI(ML) MLA Satyadev Ram visited the family of the martyr in Garkha block of Saran district to express solidarity and offer condolences. The party has demanded that the Bihar government immediately provide a government job to a member of the bereaved family.

“Bihar will always remember the sacrifice of Shaheed Mohammad Imtiyaz,” said Comrade Kunal. “His martyrdom is a powerful rebuke to those who, under the guise of the Pahalgam terror attack, are spreading hatred against the Muslim community. He further asserted, “India’s true strength lies in our shared sacrifices and our collective heritage. That is the identity of our country, and it is our responsibility to preserve and strengthen it.”
