CPIML General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya met Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren at his residence on March 17 to seek support for the eight-hour workday struggle of India’s workers against the Modi government’s four Labour Codes of slavery, which the party says aim to subject free workers to a dictatorship of employers. He was accompanied by party PBM Comrade Vinod Singh and Nirsa MLA Comrade Arup Chatterjee.
During the meeting, Dipankar Bhattacharya also requested that the Jharkhand CM extend active support to Assam’s struggle against the reign of hate and fear under Himanta Biswa Sarma. He noted that the Assam Chief Minister had attempted to vitiate the atmosphere in Jharkhand during the Assembly elections with a toxic campaign of hate, and urged CM to campaign in Assam with a message of harmony and justice.
Earlier in the day, a delegation of families affected by Thalassemia had met Dipankar Bhattacharya at the CPIML office in Ranchi, submitting a memorandum outlining the multiple problems faced by patients and their families. Bhattacharya conveyed their grievances to the Jharkhand Chief Minister, requesting a more sympathetic and proactive response from his government on the issue.
