A team led by CPI(ML) General Secretary Comrade Dipankar Bhattacharya visited Pirpainti in Bhagalpur district, Bihar on 2 October 2025 to meet farmers resisting the handover of fertile land to Adani for just Rs.1. Farmers in the region have strongly opposed the deal, calling it a direct attack on their land, livelihood, and environment.
Speaking from Kamalpur village, Comrade Dipankar said that giving fertile farmland to Adani is not development but destruction. He emphasized that farmers’ mango orchards provide livelihoods to thousands of people, while Adani’s proposed power project will destroy employment and poison the air, water, and soil of the entire region.
The CPI(ML) General Secretary highlighted the pressure being exerted on farmers to vacate their land, with repeated notices and threats of jail by BJP leaders aimed at intimidating those resisting the corporate land grab.
He said that a detailed report exposing the truth about compensation, displacement, repression, and the destructive impact of the project will be released soon. He called on the people to stand with the farmers of Pirpainti and resist Adani’s land grab in Bihar.
