CPIML Holds Protest in Ranchi Against Fuel Crisis and Soaring Prices, Slams Modi Govt’s Pro-Corporate Policies

Protesting against the acute shortage of petrol, diesel, cooking gas and other fuels along with their unprecedented price rise, the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation on Saturday, May 16 organised a protest march from Mahendra Singh Bhawan, the state office of the party, culminating in a demonstration at Albert Ekka Chowk in Ranchi. Other constituent parties of the INDIA alliance also joined the protest.

Addressing the gathering, CPIML Liberation Jharkhand State Secretary Comrade Manoj Bhakt said that the continuous increase in the prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas, coupled with shortages in essential fuels, has severely impacted workers, peasants, poor families and the middle classes. He said that the Modi government’s economic policies are designed to safeguard corporate profits while shifting the burden of inflation and economic distress onto ordinary people.

The protest condemned the Modi government for pursuing pro-corporate policies and aligning with imperialist interests, resulting in soaring fuel prices and shortages that have intensified the overall cost-of-living crisis. Speakers at the protest asserted that access to affordable fuel and cooking gas is a basic necessity and cannot be left to market-driven profiteering.

The protest demanded an immediate rollback of increased fuel prices, urgent measures to end shortages of petrol, diesel and cooking gas, and guaranteed affordable LPG access for every household.
