The CPI(ML) Bindukhatta Committee has accused the BJP government and Lalkuan MLA of betraying the people of Bindukhatta by repeatedly stalling the declaration of Bindukhatta as a revenue village. A meeting of the committee on September 6 at Deepak Bose Bhawan, Car Road Chauraha, resolved to launch a mass agitation if the notification is not issued immediately.
CPI(ML) Nainital district secretary Comrade Kailash Pandey said the Lalkuan MLA has reduced the demand to a “memorandum drama,” meeting the Chief Minister, Revenue Secretary and Chief Secretary only to cover up his own failures. “For years he has claimed that all files and procedures are complete. If that is true, let him stop wasting time on memoranda and ensure that the Chief Minister issues the notification at once. Otherwise, it will be clear that he is fooling the people of Bindukhatta,” Kailash said. He warned that if the government continues to delay, the people of Bindukhatta would be forced into a mass movement.
CPI(ML) Bindukhatta Committee secretary Pushkar Dubadiya echoed the sentiment, saying, “The people of Bindukhatta have been cheated repeatedly on the promise of revenue village status. If the BJP government betrays them once again, they are ready to teach the MLA and the party a lesson in the next Assembly elections.”
The meeting also demanded urgent action to resolve the problem of stray cattle, to underground the polluted drain from Century Paper Mill, to capture crocodiles threatening lives, and to build permanent embankments on the Gaula river. It warned that failure to act on these issues will also lead to agitation.
CPI(ML) extended full support to the indefinite sit-in protest continuing for the last 20 days in Bagjhala village.
