The West Bengal State Committee of the CPI(ML) Liberation has written to Odisha Chief Minister Shree Mohan Charan Majhi, expressing grave concern over incidents involving Bengali-speaking migrant workers.
In the letter dated 16th July 2025, Abhijit Mazumdar, Bengal State Secretary, CPI(ML) Liberation stated that Bengali-speaking migrant workers are facing “threat, torture, detention, intimidation and even deportation to Bangladesh” in different BJP-ruled states. The letter noted that similar incidents have also been reported in Odisha.
The letter refers to Articles 14, 15, 19, and 21 of the Constitution, stating that these guarantee equality, non-discrimination, freedom of movement, and personal liberty. It called upon the Chief Minister to protect these fundamental rights.
CPIML demanded:
Stop all sorts of harassment, torture, and illegal detention of migrant labourers from West Bengal.
Take stern action against the police and administration for violating constitutional rights.
Guarantee protection, right to life, and employment for all migrant workers in Odisha.
