PM Modi’s Statement on US-Israel War on Iran Reflects Hollow Assurances and Imperialist Appeasement

On the 24th day of the unjust US-Israel war on Iran, PM Modi finally took note of the war. He spoke for twenty minutes without uttering a word of condemnation of the war and the US-Israel design that sabotaged diplomacy and launched war.

Repeated mention of the Covid pandemic as an analogy to explain the current situation hinted at the scale of crisis and disruption, but there was no specific assurance for either the stranded expatriate workers in West Asia or the common people in India who have already been hit hard by LPG crisis and soaring prices except a vague warning against hoarding and rumour-mongering.

On the 95th anniversary of Bhagat Singh's martyrdom, Narendra Modi's speech gave us a stark example of the contrast between the power of anti-imperialist socialist politics and the bankruptcy of corporate-driven appeasement of imperialism.
