A joint protest of Left parties was organised at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on March 3 against the US–Israeli criminal axis and its imperialist war on Iran. The protest was jointly called by CPI(ML) Liberation, CPI, CPI(M) and several other Left and democratic organisations.
Addressing the protest, the General Secretary of CPI(ML) Liberation Dipankar Bhattacharya said that, flushed with imperialist hubris after its aggression against Venezuela and other countries, the Trump-led US regime, together with Israel, has now launched a war against Iran. He stated that once again the architects of colonial plunder have revived their familiar script of lies to justify open aggression. From Iraq’s so-called “weapons of mass destruction” to accusations against countries that refuse to submit to US domination, imperialist powers have repeatedly manufactured narratives to legitimise war and regime change.
He pointed out that the US–Israel axis is now targeting Iran, cynically exploiting the genuine struggles of the Iranian people while pushing the propaganda of nuclear weapons as a pretext for regime change and colonial domination. At the same time, he noted, Israel continues its genocidal war against the Palestinian people with the backing of the United States.
Com. Dipankar further noted that the assassination of Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei by forces of the invading US-Israel axis must be condemned unequivocally even by the critics of the Iranian government. For decades the US and Israel have falsely accused Iran of being just weeks away from becoming a nuclear power. Even as Iran accepted the diplomatic process to seek a negotiated settlement, the US-Israel axis attacked Iran and assassinated Iran's supreme leader and several of his family members and close officials. The people of Iran alone have the right to determine the future of their country and India must unequivocally denounce the US-Israel bid to subjugate Iran and install a puppet regime.
The gathering also condemned the silence of the Modi government on the ongoing aggression. Speakers demanded that the government end its complicity with the criminal-colonial project of the US–Israel axis, reject imperialist designs across the world, and take a firm stand against the ongoing war on Iran.
Protest in Jharkhand
A protest against the US–Israeli war on Iran was also held in Ranchi on March 2, witnessing wide participation from activists of CPI(ML) Liberation, other Left parties and several progressive organisations.
Reverberating with slogans such as “Down with Imperialism” and “No to War,” the protest condemned US imperialist-colonial designs aimed at subjugating peoples and undermining the sovereignty of countries across the world. Speakers said that from aggression against Iran to attacks on Venezuela, from the blockade of Cuba to the continuing assault on Palestine, these actions once again expose US imperialism as the most ferocious enemy of the world’s peoples.
Similar protests were also organised in Bermo and other places in Jharkhand. The protesters called upon democratic and peace-loving forces across the world to stand in solidarity with the people of Iran and oppose the criminal aggression of the US–Israel axis.
