CPI(ML) Govindpur Block Committee in Jharkhand organised a protest was organised in front of the Govindpur Block-cum-Circle Headquarters on 17 June 2025. The programme began with a march from the Ratanpur Party Office, led by Politburo member and former MLA Comrade Anand Mahato. The protest was held to raise a 20-point charter of demands and to oppose the widespread corruption prevailing in the block and circle offices.
The march culminated at the block office, where it transformed into a sit-in protest. Protesters raised slogans such as: “No to bureaucratic rule in block and circle offices”, “End rampant corruption”, “No commission in government schemes”, “Stop taking bribes for Abua and PM Awas Yojana”.
In his address, Comrade Anand Mahato, said that common people’s work is not being done in the block and circle offices. Despite the region being agriculture-based, farmers are not receiving timely seeds and fertilisers, and there is no arrangement for irrigation, which is turning fertile land barren. Development schemes are falling prey to corruption and commissions, and farmers, youth, women, and students are being deprived of their entitlements.
He stated that no certificate is being made without a bribe, and corruption has reached its peak. He declared that the party will not tolerate this and called on the people to unite for their rights, adding that this unity is only possible under the leadership of the red flag. He warned the officials that if there is no improvement in the system, an indefinite dharna will be organised at the block headquarters over public issues.
Major Demands:
- Stop the rampant corruption in the block and circle offices.
- End the commission system in PM and Abua Awas, MGNREGA, and other development schemes.
- Provide farmers with seeds, fertilisers, and agricultural tools before the monsoon.
- Implement development schemes on the ground as per the estimates.
- Identify and free encroached government lands.
- Identify forest land and free it from encroachment.
- Cancel entries made in Register 2 based on fake documents.
- Enter names of left-out raiyats in Register 2.
- Organise camps at the panchayat level for land mutation and receipt issuance.
- Install signboards on all government lands.
The 20-point memorandum of demands was submitted at the protest site to the Block Development Officer and Circle Officer.
