Protest in Mansa Against Caste Atrocities Under Modi Regime: Effigy of Manuwad Burnt

On 12 October, a strong protest was held at Gurudwara Chowk, Mansa, against the rising attacks and humiliation of Dalits under the Modi government. Social, political, and farmers, workers, and employees’ organizations in the city participated. The protest condemned the humiliation of the Chief Justice of India by a lawyer claiming to be 'Sanatani', the continuous caste-based harassment of the ADGP of Haryana by caste-arrogant IAS and IPS officers that forced him to attempt suicide, and the brutal murder of innocent Dalit youth Hari Om Valmiki in Rae Bareli by RSS-backed goons on false theft charges. An effigy representing Manuwad was burned during the protest.

Speaking at the protest, CPIML Leader Sukhdarshan Singh Natt said that crimes committed by caste-arrogant elements with political patronage are a stain on the humanity. They warned that the BJP-led Modi government would have to pay the price for giving political protection to these offenders The Dalit and oppressed communities would never tolerate such humiliation and would respond with organized resistance.

Leaders also appreciated the police in Punjab and Karnataka for registering cases against Manuwadi elements who created and shared insulting videos and memes against the Chief Justice on social media. They stressed that every justice-loving and humanitarian organization must actively oppose such caste atrocities.

Protesters demanded the immediate arrest of all those guilty of caste arrogance and strict punishment for the offenders.

Comrades and leaders who addressed the protest included CPI(ML) Liberation central leader Rajvinder Singh Rana, CPI leader Krishan Chauhan, Sikander Singh Gharangna of Pensioners Association, Karnail Singh of Punjab Kisan Union, Balwinder Singh Gharangna of Mazdoor Mukti Morcha and others. The protest was conducted by Comrade Jasbir Kaur Natt of the Progressive Women’s Association (AIPWA).
