Statewide Traders’ Federation to Be Formed on 13 July

Statewide Traders

A meeting of traders from various districts of the state was held in Patna on June 15 under the leadership of CPI(ML) MP from Arrah, Comrade Sudama Prasad, regarding the formation of a Traders’ Federation. The meeting discussed issues such as the formation of a Traders’ Security Commission, preventing the murder, loot and extortion of traders, excluding small and medium traders and food items from GST, limiting online trade, restoring civic amenities in market areas, and creating vending zones for pavement vendors.

The CPI(ML) MP said that a strong traders’ federation is urgently needed for the safety of traders’ lives and property. He added that demonetisation by the Modi government and the lockdown during the COVID-19 period have completely devastated retail trade. He stated that uncontrolled inflation, unemployment, declining purchasing power of the public, and now online trade have pushed local business into severe crisis and recession.

Traders from the districts of Bhojpur, Buxar, Kaimur, Rohtas, Gaya, Jehanabad, Arwal, Nalanda, Jamui, Banka, Bhagalpur, Khagaria, Araria, Purnia, Siwan, Gopalganj, Chhapra, Sheohar, Vaishali, Muzaffarpur, Munger, East Champaran, Patna, and Begusarai participated in the meeting.

It was decided to hold the founding conference of the Traders’ Federation on 13 July 2025 at Ravindra Bhavan, Patna, raising the demand for a Traders’ Security Commission.
