Mining Workers’ Protest in Odisha

On 19 December, nearly three hundred mining workers came together to protest in front of Odisha Assembly. The workers had a six-point demands that included opening the Kalarangi mining soon; release of gratuity money of the workers; EPF provisions; linking pension funds with provident fund office; proper utilisation of District mineral development fund in mining affected villages; and others. Com. Radhakant Sethi, state General Secretary of AICCTU, Com. Mahendra Parida, National secretary of AICCTU, and Com. Maheswar Mahant convener of Kalarangi Khani Sramaik Manch spoke at the venue of the protest and a five member team met the mining minister to handover the memorandum.
